Year 11 Art and Design students follow the Fine Art endorsement of the AQA GCSE course. Students complete a substantial portfolio of work with their third controlled assessment unit. This focuses on a starting point of their choice and offers experience in a range of media as well as painting and drawing. In January students work from their own choice of question from the Externally Set Task paper in preparation for the timed assessment which takes place during term 5. Students explore, interpret and research this theme with greater independence and freedom. 

All units evolve from direct observation and are informed by the work of artists. Students critically analyse, interpret and engage with Artworks that are relevant to their chosen project direction. Ideas develop sequentially towards a final piece in sketchbooks and on a larger scale through a series of experimental and design work.
