Year 9
In Year 9 students are taught to critically assess literature and adapt their language skills to fulfil the requirements of style and form. They are given the opportunity to study GCSE texts as the Year 9 programme of study is designed to develop the skills of the students and prepare them for their GCSE course.
At CTS, we encourage students to read in English lessons (with ten minutes private reading at the start), outside of English lessons and at home. We aim to promote a positive reading culture where students can apply their reading skills to their studies. Below is a list of recommended reads for Year 9
